Public Release of Firebrand Dash


In case you don't already know, over the past few months, I've picked up the game engine Godot and started to learn more about in in-between the time I was spending finishing up the newest version of Golden Sun Dawn of Djinn and making videos on Youtube.  Most of that Godot time was spent on tutorials.  However, I got so attached to the platformer tutorial the moment I replaced the character with my OC, that I decided to expand that tutorial into its own game... ...sort of...

I still feel it's got a long way to go before it's fleshed out enough for me to consider it a 'true game' that I can share outside of itcho.  Let alone sell. But I think it's at least got enough that I can start sharing my progress publicly with it.  It's already got a handful of features that go beyond the initial tutorial I use, such as an air dash and a stomp attack. But I don't feel like there's enough elements quite yet to stand out. But at least it's a nice little 3-5 minute romp, even in this state. Takes me back to the era of simple flash games even.

I'm using this project as a way to encourage me to expand my knowledge with Godot. So, I'll make additional updates to this page if there are drastic enough changes with it. It's my first game in this engine and primary for the practice of making games; so I don't see the harm of just sharing builds of it for free.  Just don't expect any major update, until I finish and release that new version of Dawn of Djinn.  I'm not even sure how much I'll work on it before moving on to the next thing, I'm just going off vibes for this one. On the bright side, completion of the new Dawn of Djinn is rapidly happening. So maybe the next post you see related to this will happen sooner than we all think.
